WHO’S IN THE KITCHEN: We’re seeking an Ingredient Optimization Auditor who is ready to make a large impact on the operations and bottom line of a large, publicly-traded food company.  We are looking for hard-working, tenacious and data-minded individuals with strong leadership skills and experience in food manufacturing to help solve complex and dynamic challenges in our largest fulfillment center. You will be a member of our newly formed Ingredient Optimization team, which works cross-functionally to maintain control of ingredients from receiving, production and pack through end-of-cycle disposition. This team is responsible for reducing experienced food costs by increasing food utilization in the LN fulfillment center. 


  • You will be primarily a teacher and decision maker - continuously educating managers, supervisors, and associates about expected case weights and counts, shelf life and portioning expectations and fostering a sense of responsibility and excitement about maximizing the value and utility of every single ingredient we purchase. 

  • Responsible for the overall improvement in food utilization Fulfillment Center by playing an active role in receiving, production, sortation and pack. 

  • Interpret disparate streams of data concerning yield and production and direct production supervisors to make immediate production changes to maximize product value.

  • Perform thorough audits of received product, checking weights, measures and expected portions in the receiving process and communicating relevant information to all stakeholders. Must complete a receiving audit for 100% of food deliveries and audit prep process yields in the kitchen of at least 80 ingredients per week, in partnership with teammates.

  • Create and maintain thorough data capturing protocols for deciding whether received product meets, exceeds or falls short of our communicated standards.

  • Actively build a culture of thriftiness and waste reduction through all interactions across the plant.

  • Self-starter capable of working independently and achieving high levels of productivity. Uses time strategically to maximize waste reduction and cost savings in the fulfillment center.

  • Supervise Sortation Associates to ensure Ingredient Optimization goals are met or exceeded.

  • Master key knowledge about Blue Apron’s purchasing habits, operational production and key inventory improvement opportunities and use that knowledge to reduce waste and save money.

  • Track issues and solutions, and use that data to make better decisions in the future.

  • Work collaboratively to meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly goals.


  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, operations, or a related field or a minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience required

  • Strong math skills required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel required

  • Highly analytical with a keen attention to detail

  • Clear and concise communicator, verbal and written

  • Ability to multi-task and think quickly on your feet

  • Experience with automated kitchen machinery is preferred

  • Ability to track, record and report data from multiple sources

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic required

  • Knowledge of food is a plus

  • Must be enthusiastic about reducing food waste


  • Must be able to lift 49 pounds repetitively with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Must be able to handle exposure to temperatures that range from freezing to sub-freezing (coolers, freezers, etc.) with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Must be willing and able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend and reach with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Must be willing to spend at minimum 80% of the time in the facilities and on the floor.
