WHO’S IN THE KITCHEN

As the most senior member of the Blue Apron operations team at our Linden, NJ fulfillment center, you’ll lead and coordinate the Prep Kitchen, Pack Out Line, and Receiving Dock teams to ensure that we deliver our boxes on time and up to Blue Apron standards.

 

The Plant Manager sets the vision for the plant on a high level, building the team and crafting its culture. At the same time this person is well versed on the details of the operation. You’ll be accountable for the team following all procedures consistently and driving measurable quantitative improvements in performance. Equally as important, you’ll be responsible for food safety and team member safety.

 

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who has 10+ years of experience working independently to set procedures, uphold standards, and deliver measurable quantitative results in a large-scale manufacturing, production, or distribution environment. Our fast-paced environment demands passion, multitasking, high attention to detail, the ability to perform with a sense of urgency, and keen problem solving and organization skills.

WHAT’S ON THE MENU

  • As the head of a team of more than two dozen managers, you’ll work through your
  • leadership team to direct over 1000 team members.
  • Establish area performance standards and goals for all areas of the facility… and hold your team accountable to hitting them
  • Put sustainable, repeatable processes in place in all parts of our operation. Hold your team accountable to following them and empower your staff to suggest process improvements.
  • Build and develop your team. Own scheduling, training and recruiting.
  • Recommend and implement changes in process, scheduling, and equipment to tackle problems, improve quality and efficiency, and drive costs down.
  • Own safety of the team and of the food. Ensure facilities and associates comply with all state, federal and local regulatory agencies by strictly enforcing GMPs and SSOPs.
  • Inspire passion and commitment at all levels of the plant. Ensure that Blue Apron is every team member’s favorite place to work!

NECESSARY INGREDIENTS

  • You have a minimum of 10 years of successful managerial leadership experience in a production environment, running a large-scale manufacturing plant, and/or working in operations at a start-up.
  • Experience working in a food production environment not required, but a strong plus. We're looking for someone who has experience enforcing the GMPs and SSOPs that keep our staff and our food safe.
  • You have open availability including nights and weekends. As a senior level position with a large scope of responsibility, this is far from a 9-to-5 job!
  • You have experience owning quality and efficiency KPIs and scheduling a large workforce.
  • You communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
  • You don’t settle. You challenge the status quo and push your team and the company forward. You’re excited to grow with Blue Apron!
  • You have a bachelor’s degree or higher. Lean, Six Sigma, and project management certifications a plus.
