WHO'S IN THE KITCHEN 

Blue Apron is hiring an experienced Production Planner to join our Operations Team in Richmond, CA. You'll be responsible for partnering with the Richmond team to lead production and workforce planning decisions while continuously improving and optimizing the operation. 

 

As the Company continues to grow, a critical function is determining the appropriate schedule and production capacity required to fulfill customer demand.  This includes identification of appropriate staffing levels to control costs.  

 

As the Production Planner, you will work directly with key stakeholders across fulfillment and corporate operations.  You will own the execution of the underlying tools/models and analysis that help us expand operations and manage demand to ensure the best possible customer experience at the lowest cost.  You will be a key ingredient in providing direction to production personnel to deliver a plan that is on-time and in full.

 

WHAT'S ON THE MENU 

  • Leads scheduling and workforce planning teams to deliver results aligned to sales and operating forecasts and operational constraints.

  • Responsible for determining, communicating, and monitoring production lead times based on calculated throughputs and current backlogs.

  • Drives analytics to drive performance and develops mitigating strategies as required.

  • Assists in development of sales and operation plan by plant as directed.

  • Drive initiatives to identify opportunities for operations improvements, cost savings, and strategic initiatives

  • Communicates exceptions between Operations and Sales in order to resolve challenges in a timely fashion and insure customer satisfaction.

  • Utilize lean manufacturing techniques to support material flow throughout the value stream.

  • Understands upstream and downstream impacts of decisions in order to present viable mitigation strategies when required.

  • Ownership of daily planning meetings to ensure alignment and accountability across the fulfillment center

  • Oversee production planning, and responsible to train and develop the organization to understand critical concepts and principles of Lean and innovative planning methodology.

NECESSARY INGREDIENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management, engineering, math, statistics, or supply chain required

  • 5-7 years of work experience as a scheduler/planner in a manufacturing environment or operations role

  • APICS, CIPM, or NAPM, CPM certification preferred.

  • Strong presentation skills and experience collaborating with stakeholders across functions

  • Excel Knowledge and Proficiency is required

  • Process oriented and system focused

  • Knowledge of key process variables

  • Results driven and previous leadership experience

  • The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Interest in the food, e-Commerce

  • Must be willing and able to handle exposure to temperatures that range from freezing to sub-freezing (coolers, freezers, etc.) with or without accommodation

  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours  (including nights, evenings and weekends)
